OVERVIEW OF THE WHOLE CLASS STRUCTURE
In this class we will use objects from around our homes to inspire a series of acrylic paintings or studies. As we work through the creative exercises our work will move towards abstraction or semi abstraction. We will distil the essence of our arrangement of objects through drawing and exploring. We will:
Gather a collection of interesting or visually appealing objects
Explore some ideas about composition by arranging our objects in different ways
Photograph our still life arrangements with our phones or camera
Use our photographs to inspire a series of 8 - 10 drawings
Cut up a couple of the least successful drawings and stick them back together to create collages
Our drawings and collages will then be used as a springboard to inspire a series of four acrylic paintings
We will start our four paintings in two different ways, two will have some under-drawing/structure (scaffolding) and two will be started with a playful approach to applying paint with tools and implements (sky-diving)
We will work on all the paintings in unison, simultaneously, adding a small element to one and then moving to the next
The paintings will be built up element by element, layer by layer and utilise a variety of paint application techniques
