HERE’S EXACTLY WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS ONLINE CLASS:
In this class we’ll get inspired by a range of different artists who have mixed media in beautiful and interesting ways.
We’ll experiment with mixing art supplies to create stunning pages and I will share oodles of inspiration and ideas from my personal sketchbooks. I’ll share the processes I use in my own art practice and sketchbook.
My hope is that at the end of this hour you will feel excited and confident to mix art supplies in your sketchbook in a way that helps you to find your style and tune into your own artistic wisdom.
This one hour video class (62 minutes) is packed full of tips, demonstrations and insight to help you develop a sketchbook practice which feels exciting, interesting and personal. This is a bite-sized wisdom-packed class to help you develop and enjoy your own sketchbook practice.
This class includes:
Exploration of a variety of artists who have an interesting approach to mixing media
Three demonstrations of how exactly to go about creating sketchbook pages from start to finish
A little art theory to help with making decisions about mixing media and improve your art and sketchbook compositions
Mixed media techniques and ways to develop pages
In two of the exercises we’ll be responding to photographs we have selected
Ways you may like to combine materials and approaches to create diverse and dynamic pages
Ideas and ways to problem solve within your art making
Processes which offer lots of opportunity to make them your own
A look inside my personal collection of sketchbooks to share ideas and wisdom about using acrylic paint and collage in your sketchbook
The emphasis of this class is on experimentation, discovery and play
I’ll take you through the three processes step by step, sharing lots of advice and lots of art making insights so you’ll learn how to start and develop pages in your sketchbook.
AN AFTERNOON OF ART…
The class is one hour long, but the exercises would happily fill an afternoon of art making or even a whole sketchbook…. I like to share processes which you can explore again and again.
The class consists of a one hour video in English. English subtitles are included and can be turned on or off.
WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
This class is aimed at folk who want to create semi-abstract pages in their sketchbooks and explore mixing art supplies in surprising and unique ways. It is for folk who want ideas, techniques and inspiration to help them to fully explore mixing media in their sketchbook in a fun accessible way.
In this class we will be using a real mix of materials including acrylic paint, drawing materials such as pens, pencils, pastels, glue and collage…

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
A sketchbook
A way to take a photograph such as a phone or camera (although you can use my photo if you prefer)
Mixed media supplies such as acrylic paint, watercolur, oil pastel, coloured water based pens and coloured pencils. This is a flexible and adaptable class, this exact combination of materials is not necessary you can use the art materials you have.
In this class we will also be using collage, so scrap paper, glue and scissors will also be needed

You want to know exactly how something will turn out before you have started creating it
If you want to copy an instructor verbatim. I will provide clear instructions and demonstrations, but this is not the type of class where you just copy exactly what I’m doing and we all create art that looks exactly the same. I want your art to look like you made it.
