1.3 YOUR MOTIVATIONS AND INTENTIONS
Using a sketchbook has helped me to develop my confidence, find my artistic style and develop a process which feels good to me. When I first started using a sketchbook regularly it became a safe space in which I could allow my fledgling artistic approaches to take flight. A place to develop my skills and a springboard to a more expressive and creative life. I would encourage you to unpack and explore your own motivations for working in a sketchbook
CLARITY OF INTENTION
Clarity of intention is a powerful place to start. I’m a great believer in writing things down. Sometimes the act of putting pen to paper can turn the intangible into the tangible. Asking ourselves questions and writing down our answers can help us to articulate our intentions to ourselves. It can help us find clarity when we are a little unclear. Our answers can also serve as a reminder and prompt along the way.
I invite you to think about your motivation for working in a sketchbook. It can be game-changing to ask yourself why you’d like to develop a sketchbook practice, what you’d like to achieve, how you’d like to feel and why.
