5.4 RECREATING

In this lesson we are recreating - taking our visual interests and compiling them to create something new, we are combining and curating. We can make interesting and meaningful sketchbook pages by not only layering media, but by also mixing layers of meaning and combining ideas and interests.

I am using the photographs I took when out looking for visual references and will combine them into one mini sketchbook, the one page sketchbook that we made in Lesson 4.1. Things to try:

  • Take a collection of your visual reference photographs and use them in combination to inspire art in your sketchbook. In the video I took 8 different photographs and explored each one on a different page of our mini sketchbooks

  • You could print out some of your photographs onto copier paper and cut them up and use them together as collage material

  • You could select two photographs and draw your response to them, creating one page or more in your sketchbook which mixes them together

  • You could divide a page of your sketchbook into a grid and draw your response to a different photo in each square of your grid

  • You could use one of your photographs to inspire a set of mark making pages which you then make a collage from
